Manual - New York World's Fair 1964-1965 Corporation
Dramatic night-time illumination
of landscaped areas borders the main promenades along the Central
Mall. The lighting is accomplished by ground based units partially
buried in the earth and hidden from the casual observer by low
plantings. These lights create entrancing vistas after dark,
creating interesting and delightful visual effects, by producing
highlights and shadows in the foliage. The units, specially designed
for the Fair, are semi-recessed weather proof uplights, with
directional swivel adjustments, drainage provisions, and fused
service connections. The light source is a new 275 watt, multi-vapor
lamp, which assures best color values for foliage and flowers.
282 units are installed along the main promenades: 36 boarder
the Pool of Reflections and 246 are set in areas adjacent to
the Fountain of the Fairs. Rated at 275 watts per unit, the connected
load is 78 kilowatts. |
