When I was decided to produce the show for the New York World's Fair, presenting at the House of Japan, I determined that I must present the best one. The Japanese shows for American audience in the past were disposed to produce far from the actual state and beauty of Japan. I would say that the show produced with spirit must be different from the one produced only for appeal to the audience. I understand that many people in the United States these days have some knowledge of Japan, however, it is quite difficult to show the real state of Japan to the people throughout the country. So I thought, this is the best chance. I shall introduce my country through the people who visit the World's Fair and through this show. As I attempt to realize the method of fill up a new leather bag with old wine. I add senses and speeds of modern life to the Japanese classical beauty.
Performers will present beautiful dance numbers with old Japanese music arranged like Western music.
I hope you will enjoy our show "Sakura Odori". I believe firmly that the beauty of Japanese girls will dazzle the visitors' eyes at the World's Fair.
